This page describes what Expo does with what it hears. It is written to be read, not to be survived. PLACEHOLDER: this is a product description, not a reviewed legal document.
What Expo captures
Expo captures system audio only while a session is running and only after you have granted the operating system permission. The capture state is shown on screen for the whole session and can be paused by anyone at the machine.
Expo does not capture your microphone separately, does not capture your screen, and does not read the contents of other applications.
What is kept, and where
Sessions, transcripts and notes are written to your machine first. Raw audio is not retained once the transcript has been produced.
Where a session is synced to the Expo backend, it is stored so that your own devices can read it back. It is not used to train models.
What we do not collect
No telemetry on the content of your conversations. No transcript text in error reports. No background capture when a session is not running.
Your responsibility
Expo makes capture visible, but it cannot obtain consent on your behalf. Recording and transcription law differs by country and by state. Telling the people in the conversation is your call and your obligation.
Getting your data out, or deleted
Sessions can be exported or deleted from the app at any time. Deleting a session removes its transcript and its notes.
